Gilbert Goodmate, Tank Goblins And The Dark Millennia - what do these games all have in common? They are just three games out of many that Crystal Software intends to publish in the run up period to Christmas and in the new year.
Gilbert Goodmate is a point and click adventure in the same mould as Monkey Island 3 and will come on a multi-format CD for the Amiga and pc. This option means that readers can expect to see Gilbert Goodmate in the shops.
It has undergone a total transformation since they released the demo and screenshots, as you can see in the surrounding screenshots. They have pointed out that one of the artists working on the characters of this game is an ex-Disney Artist.
Gilbert Goodmate is scheduled for completion in July 1999 and will feature digitally recorded speech on both formats plus a CD sound track.
Tank Goblins is a 3D engine tongue-in-cheek shoot-um-up, with the developers saying its "perspective is that of Sega Rally".

Tank Goblins is set at a time when the Goblins world has gone through dramatic changes, the once lush greens of their forest filled world have been burnt to a desolate frazzle by the mass
depletion of their ozone layer. As the planet got hotter and hotter, instead of joining as a force against
their affliction, the two original clans became three, then four, then eight and so on. There soon became many different factions each striving for its own way of survival, this bought about trade, but as the planet got hotter, the one thing every clan wanted none had or was not willing to admit
to having, Water. Soon clans marked territories and any other goblin entering their territory
faced instant extermination or held for ransom for water.
You play a Goblin named Grunt (a grunt being someone who does somebody else's dirty work for money), who's tool of trade is a Tank.
The aim is to go through the various levels, completing each objective and staying alive. Each level you can buy or trade for new add-ons for the tank, new driver, new gunner, new engineer all to improve the performance of your tank.
Tank Goblins boasts digital speech, cut scene animation's, atmospheric soundtrack which changes to the condition of the players status in the game, real-time rendered updating, good AI for enemies and even possible Network linking so you can play a death match with anyone over the net. Goblin Tanks is in line for a Christmas release.
The Dark Millennia is a real-time strategy adventure game based on a story, which takes the player through a series of chapters. The players decisions and choices create the outcome for the next chapter, thus giving multiple ways of reaching the final chapter.
I sure like the look of The Dark Millennia
There are two competing forces within the game, one represents all that is good and honorable, the other representing all that is dark and evil, the player has a choice of either to play. The setting for the game is Fantasy Medieval, with the player controlling armies of Goblins, Dwarves, Elves, Giant Spiders and many more.
This is not a shallow game, Dark Millennia has the player creating armies and towns with an economy, similar to games like Settlers and Populous. Each force has unique characters to control and to train to aid in the quests. Fighting skills, spells, potions, these are all here to be learnt or bought.
The Dark Millennia be Aga, running in a 256 Colour LoRes or HiRes Screen Modes, featuring full AHI support for all sound cards allowing 16 channels of audio at all times during the game. It will also support graphics cards and PPC.
